October 2026 Update - Separate HR and IT Admins, Timesheet Weeks and Months, and Who Can Book a Project

Here’s what’s new since the September update.

๐Ÿ”‘ Roles and Sign-In

The old Administrator role held both people data and IT plumbing. It is now two standard roles:

  • HR Administrator: Employees, org units, time off, timesheets, payroll, reports, bulk changes and the HR settings.
  • Workspace Administrator: Users, roles, API keys, kiosks and the workspace itself, without access to people’s records.
  • Single Sign-On Only: A workspace can name one sign-in provider, with the email domains it owns, as the only way in. Passwords and passkeys then stop working for its people.
  • Security Log: Workspace owners get Admin โ€บ Security log: a record of security-relevant changes, who made them and from where. You can filter it and export it to Excel as evidence for an access review.
  • Invite in Bulk: Pick the employees to invite and mTime uses the addresses their records already hold. External users are invited separately.
  • Passkeys in the App: Passkey sign-in now works in the iOS and Android apps.
  • Microsoft First: Microsoft is now the first sign-in option. It also attaches to an account you created earlier with a password, instead of refusing you. Sign in with Apple now appears only in the iOS app.

โฑ๏ธ Timesheet

  • Week, Month or Period: A switch in the toolbar locks the timesheet to a week, a month or the statement period, with totals per activity and project for that range. Continuous keeps the endless scroll you know.
  • Notes on Registrations: Activities, projects and dimensions can allow or require a note on the time registered against them. A project or a dimension can require a note whatever the activity allows.
  • Where the Month Changes: A line runs down the grid at the first of each month.
  • Future Time Off on the Sheet: A known absence, such as a funeral next week, can be registered ahead on the timesheet when the time off type has no policy behind it.
  • Lock the Automatic Lunch: Make the Lunch activity unavailable to some or all employees, and they can no longer change the lunch break mTime registers for them.
  • Check-In/Out for Empty Days: Days with no check-in can get one automatically, so employees no longer create every record by hand.
  • New Activities Stay Off Timesheets: A new activity appears on a timesheet only when an activity list selects it or the employee adds it. Importing hundreds of activities no longer puts them all on everyone’s sheet.

๐Ÿ“Š Balances and Statements

  • The Balance You Hold Today: The timesheet period chip, the mobile statement card and the dashboard now lead with the balance as it stands today. A dip this month is no longer shown in red while your balance is positive.
  • Period Totals: On the statement sheet, Worked and Expected now show the period’s totals so far. Worked minus expected is this period’s flex, and hourly-paid employees can read their payslip hours straight off it. The average per working day sits underneath.
  • Choose What the Dashboard Shows: Each time account has a Show on dashboard switch. Hide from employees still takes precedence.
  • Only Relevant Time Off Accounts: The dashboard’s time off card leaves out accounts with no balance and no recent or upcoming movement, so a leave type used years ago no longer sits there at zero.
  • Show All Accounts: An administrator can list every time account on an employee’s profile, for example to book an opening balance for someone migrated from another system.

๐Ÿ“‹ Projects and Activities

  • Who Can Book on a Project: A project can be limited by org unit, employment terms, work country or named employees. The project manager can always book on it, and a project with no limit stays open to everyone.
  • Default Project Tasks: Under Settings โ€บ Projects, choose which tasks a project gets when it lists none, for workspaces that keep several sets of tasks side by side.
  • Match Any Condition: An availability scope can now match people who meet any of its conditions, such as “the Blue Team or apprentices”. Holiday calendars and time off, settlement and work time policies can now name individual people too.
  • Search in Every Language: Activity and account names are found whichever language you type them in, and they are shown in the reader’s language.

๐Ÿ๏ธ Time Off

  • Only the Entitled Can Take It: A leave type can be limited to the people entitled to it, such as care days for parents or pregnancy-related leave for those expecting. An employee without children no longer sees care days with a balance of zero and no explanation.
  • Register From the Employee Page: The employee page has a Time off section showing current and upcoming time off, with a Register time off button.
  • End or Change It From the Calendar: Managers and HR can end an ongoing absence, such as an open-ended sickness, or edit someone’s upcoming time off from the team calendar.
  • Child Dates for the Registrant: Whoever registers leave for an employee sees the due and birth dates that decide it, and the team calendar marks them. Leave before the birth can follow a late baby.
  • The Employee Is Told: When someone else registers, changes, cancels or ends an employee’s time off, the employee gets a notification naming who did it.
  • Colours by Category: Absences on the calendars are coloured by category: vacation blue, sick rose, personal violet, time in lieu teal, parental orange. A request awaiting approval is drawn hollow. This now works in every language, not only English.
  • mTIME 5-Compatible Danish Vacation: An option makes monthly accrual match mTIME 5, so migrated balances agree with the old system all year, not only at the end of the holiday year.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Payroll and Allowances

  • Absence to SLS: State-sector customers no longer key absence into Statens Lรธnsystem by hand. Absence on activities with an SLS code is sent when the period is approved. The SLS absence report shows what was sent.
  • Daily Overtime in Bands: Overtime can be counted per day above the day’s norm, in as many bands as the agreement has. For example, the first two hours at one rate and every hour after at another.
  • Registered Hours Onto an Allowance: Hours on chosen activities or dimension values can count straight onto an allowance. Unplanned on-call time then reaches a time account or payroll without being registered twice.
  • Payouts at a Factor: A settlement payout or an allowance can be paid to payroll at a factor, so comp time already banked with its premium is not paid out twice. Overtime counted per day or per week can now be deducted from hourly pay.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Reports

  • Employee Data: Employees’ master data as of a date you pick, one row per employee, ready to print or export.
  • Timesheet Timeliness: Who submits or approves their periods late, and by how much.
  • Sickness by Weekday: Group absence by day of the week, and see who is often sick next to a weekend: on Friday, on Monday, or both.
  • Filter by Employee: Every report can be narrowed to selected employees, former ones included. The manager filter now takes several managers, and every multi-select filter has Select all.

๐ŸŒ Holiday Calendars

Built-in holiday calendars now cover Norway, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, the UK, Spain, Portugal, Romania and Hungary, as well as Denmark, Sweden and France. Each follows the country’s statutory rules. Days that depend on a collective agreement are optional.

โœจ More Improvements

  • Keyboard Friendly: The main flows now work from the keyboard. Pickers scroll with the arrow keys, focus stays where you were after an action, focus rings are easy to see, and Escape releases a focused control.
  • Employee Quick Nav: When you look at one employee, a control in the page header goes straight to their profile, timesheet, time off or approvals. This now works on the phone too.
  • Profile Pictures Everywhere: Pictures appear on the team calendar, in approvals, on the statement sheet, in the org unit tree and on user cards.
  • Workspace Settings Reorganised: Workspace settings are grouped into General, Defaults and Access & lifecycle cards, and everything saves the same way.
  • A Self-Explaining Import Template: The Excel import template is in your workspace’s language, explains each column and covers children.
  • SCIM Names: Optionally, the name your identity provider sends becomes the employee’s name, so a rename reaches schedules, reports and payroll. HR syncs no longer overwrite those names.
  • Help Everywhere: Every page and every policy plugin now has a (?) link to its Knowledge Center article, and every page shows its full breadcrumb trail.
  • Home Screen Widget: The iOS check-in/out widget now shows the day’s total and progress against your norm.
  • Smoother Team Calendar: The team calendar loads faster, moves more smoothly and no longer shows people who have left.
  • Clear Pages for No Access: Pages you may not see, or that do not exist, say so instead of staying blank.
  • The App Updates Itself: New versions install without asking you, and the “ready to work offline” message is gone.

๐Ÿ”ง Under the Hood

  • Encrypted Push Notifications: Push notification content is encrypted on the way to your phone, so Apple and Google no longer see what they carry.
  • Fixed Outbound IP: Integrations connect from a fixed address that customers can allow through their firewall. See IP addresses.
  • Protected History: Approved and paid data is protected from edits, and date ranges and request sizes are bounded.
  • Security: Sign-in, OAuth and invitation flows are hardened, rate limits are tighter, compromised certificate chains are refused, and dependencies are fixed every week.
  • Speed: The database uses far less CPU, so busy hours stay responsive.
