3 November 2026 Update - Planned Working Hours, Mileage, and Sign-In by Email Link

Here’s what’s new since the October update. From now on, product updates come out every two weeks.

📅 Planned Working Hours

Planned hours say when an employee works, never how long. Each working day gets a planned start, and the norm stays the day’s expected time:

  • Start Times on the Norm: Where a work time policy turns planned hours on, set a start for each working day wherever the norm is edited, or plan a single day in the timesheet. The day runs from its start for its norm hours.
  • Expected Time Unchanged: A planned day always expects the norm, so flex, FTE, working days and accrual still follow it. Working other hours than planned is flexitime.

This is the first part of our work to support employees on kapitel 4 in the Danish public sector.

🔑 Sign-In and Security

  • Sign In With an Emailed Link: Sign-in now starts with your email address. mTime emails you a link, and opening it signs you in, on this device or after you approve it from another. Both screens show the same two-word phrase, so you can tell the request is yours, and you can refuse a sign-in you did not ask for.
  • Passwords by Exception: A password now works only for accounts an administrator has allowed one, such as app-store review accounts. Passkeys and Google, Microsoft, Visma Connect and Apple sign-in work as before.
  • Confirm It’s You: Changes to roles, API keys, exports, passkeys, sign-in methods, integration credentials and workspace deletion ask you to confirm with a passkey, an emailed code or your sign-in provider if you signed in more than 10 minutes ago.
  • New Device Warning: You get an email when your account signs in from a device it has not used in six months.

✅ Approvals

  • Escalation When There Is No Manager: A period or a time off request is no longer approved automatically when the employee has no manager. It goes to the head of their unit, then up the organisation, and finally to the HR administrators or owners. It carries an Escalated label that says why it reached you.
  • What a Time Off Edit Changes: When an employee edits a request, the approver now sees old and new values for each field that changed: the activity, the accounts, the hours or the note, not only the dates. An edit that changes nothing can no longer be sent.

🚗 Mileage

Employees can now register mileage trips beside their timesheet, with date, route, kilometres, purpose and vehicle, which is what the Danish tax authority asks for. The manager approves them with the timesheet, and the approved kilometres go to payroll on a high-rate and a low-rate code. Set them up under Expense types.

🏖️ Time Off and Balances

  • Month-End Balances: The Time off page has a new Balances view: every account, month by month across history and forecast, with what moved each balance (accrued, used, lapsed, paid out, adjusted, transferred) and the time off booked. It replaces the balances on the employee profile, so employees, managers and HR read one place.
  • Danish 5th-Week Transfer: Employers who offer it can let Danish employees move up to 5 untaken vacation days into the next holiday year. The employee enters it on their statement from October to December.
  • Greenlandic Holiday: Staff in Greenland earn holiday over the calendar year and take it from 1 February, as the Greenlandic holiday act says.
  • Monthly Special Holidays: A new accrual books Danish special holidays every month with no yearly cap, matching the second mTIME 5 procedure.
  • Every Policy Can Be Requested: The Can be requested as time off switch is gone. Every time off policy now offers its type, subject to its usage rules. To show a balance without booking, use Show on dashboard on the time account.
  • Correct Partial Days: A half day now shows as half a day on any account. Two partial absences on one day are both kept. An hours account is charged the hours requested, and time off never takes more than the day’s norm.

⏱️ Timesheet

  • Your Day on One Screen: Home and the timesheet’s day now share one view. See Your day, on one screen.
  • Faster Loading: The timesheet loads once, in full, and noticeably faster. Clocking in and out is quicker on busy workspaces too.
  • Maximum per Day: An activity can cap the time registered on it per day, for example a paid lunch of at most 30 minutes.
  • Attendance Registered by Default: Checked-in time that is not registered on anything else now goes to the employee’s default activity for everyone. A Do not auto-register attendance plugin turns it off, for example for hourly-paid staff.
  • Clear Error Messages: A refused hours cell now says what is wrong and gives an example of what to type, in your own format.
  • Before the Start Date: Days before the workspace or the employment starts are greyed out, with no norm and no warnings.
  • Two Years Ahead: Allow future registration now goes up to 500 working days ahead.
  • Fit the Column: Double-click the edge of the activities column to fit it to the names, as in Excel.

💰 Allowances and Settlement

  • Overtime After End of Work: Overtime supplements can be counted in clock hours after the end of the working day, for example the first 3 hours at 50 % and the rest at 100 %, and costed on the project of the work.
  • Preparation per Session: A fixed amount can be earned for every check-in, so back-to-back guided tours or examinations each earn their own preparation. A daily maximum is optional.
  • Availability Obligation From Flex: At the end of the quarter, the hours missing from the availability obligation can be taken from the flex balance instead of being forgiven.
  • Where Transfers Go: On the statement’s account movements, each transfer now names the account on the other side.
  • Allowances Typed by Hand: An allowance activity that no policy calculates can be typed in by the employees it is available to, in minutes.

🌍 Languages and Holiday Calendars

  • German and Spanish: mTime, the kiosk, emails and the phone widgets are now available in German and Spanish, and so is the Knowledge Center.
  • No More Browser Translation: Browsers no longer offer to translate mTime from English, which used to garble Danish and other languages.
  • More Holiday Calendars: Greenland, Brazil, India, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Ukraine, each with its own rules for holidays that fall on a weekend.
  • Holidays in Your Calendar: A public holiday that takes your whole working day now appears as an out-of-office entry in your connected calendar, so colleagues abroad do not book meetings that day.

📤 Import and Projects

  • Projects Managed From the Project: Project administrators now set up a project’s tasks and their place in the activity tree from the project page. The Excel workbook carries projects and the activity tree in one sheet.
  • Expiry on Imported Balances: The Accounts sheet has an expiry column per account. Left blank, it takes the policy’s default, as a manual adjustment does.
  • Safer Data Import: A restore is confirmed by typing the workspace’s name, and the merge import names the workspace, so you do not import into the wrong one. An import shows Queued until it actually starts.
  • Migration Log: An import from mTIME 5 shows what the migration could not carry over, before and after the run, and you can filter it by level.
  • Profile Pictures in Exports: A full workspace export now keeps each employee’s picture. An anonymised export leaves them out.

✨ More Improvements

  • Product Updates in the App: The updates that concern your role now appear in mTime itself.
  • Grouped Settings and Admin: The Settings and Admin overviews group their cards under headings.
  • Better Search: The command menu and search fields ignore case, accents and word order, so “timeoff” finds Time off.
  • Offline Page: The phone app shows a “Can’t reach mTime” page with Try again when there is no network, and returns by itself when the connection comes back.
  • Kiosk Setup: Admins can create and set up kiosks again.
  • Migrated History Names People: Statement history migrated from mTIME 5 now names who submitted and approved each period.

🔧 Under the Hood

  • Speed: The database uses its indexes better and reads fewer rows, and AI assistant help answers are faster.
  • Security: The kiosk now sends the app’s security headers, assistant replies cannot carry outside images or links, and dependencies are fixed every week.
