Eligible with children
The Eligible with children plugin restricts a time-off type to employees who have a registered child. Employees with none are not offered the type at all — rather than a balance of zero and no explanation.
When to use
Use this plugin for time off that only makes sense for a parent:
- A child’s first and second sick day
- Care days (omsorgsdage)
It is a gate, not an allowance. An employee without children cannot request the type at all, so there is nothing to explain away with a zero balance.
Parameters
| Parameter | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum children | How many registered children must qualify. | 1 |
| Through child age | Only children through the calendar year they turn this age. Leave empty for no age limit. | Optional |
How it works
The check runs on the first day of the requested absence.
- Each registered child whose birth has been confirmed is counted
- If Through child age is set, children past that age stop counting
- If fewer than Minimum children qualify, the type is not offered
It counts children who have arrived
A child is expected until someone confirms the birth on the employee’s page — whatever the due date says. A due date that has come and gone with no confirmation still counts as expected, and an expected child never counts here.
This is deliberate. A due date in the past is ambiguous: it could mean the child has arrived, or simply that nobody has updated the record. Treating it as a birth would start granting entitlements for a child who may not exist yet.
An expected child also has no age, cannot be sick and cannot be cared for. Leave that turns on a pregnancy is the Eligible when expecting plugin’s subject, and a type that should cover both can carry both rules.
Age is measured by the year, not the birthday
Through child age
set to 7 means through the calendar year the child turns 7. A child turning 7 in December keeps the type for that whole year, and loses it on 1 January. This matches how the Danish care-day entitlement is written.

A child’s sick day
- Add the Eligible with children plugin to the policy
- Leave Minimum children

Error messages
An employee with no qualifying child is not shown the type on the request form. Submitting it anyway is refused with “This type requires a registered child. Register one on the employee’s page to use it.” Whoever may register time off for the employee sees their children’s confirmed birth dates marked on the request form’s calendar and on the team calendar, the same way the employee does.
Children are entered under , and the section appears only when a policy in your workspace uses them.
