Eligible by age
The Eligible by age plugin restricts a time-off type to employees who have reached a minimum age on the day the absence starts. It is used for senior entitlements.
When to use
Use it where an agreement grants extra time off from a given age — a senior bonus, or extra days for older employees.
Parameters
| Parameter | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum age | The age the employee must have reached on the absence’s start date. | Required |
How it works
- The employee’s age is calculated on the first day of the requested absence
- If it is below the minimum, the request is blocked
Measured on the start date, and by the birthday
Age is counted in completed years, so the entitlement opens on the employee’s birthday — not at the start of the year they turn that age.
The date that matters is when the absence starts, not when the request is made. An employee may plan a senior day that begins after their sixtieth birthday, even if they book it before.
A missing date of birth blocks the type
If the employee has no date of birth recorded, the type is refused with its own message asking for one. It is not quietly treated as old enough — that would hand a senior entitlement to everyone with an incomplete record.
Examples
Senior days from 60
- Add the Eligible by age plugin to the policy
- Set Minimum age
to
60
Check the age your own agreement specifies — it varies.
Error messages
An employee below the age sees “This type is available from age 60.”
An employee with no date of birth on file sees a message asking for one to be added on their page.
