Danish Special Holidays (Monthly)
The monthly Danish special holidays plugin accrues five extra vacation days (særlige feriedage, feriefridage) month by month through the vacation year, the way mTIME 5 accrued them: 0.42 days a month from September to August.
When to use
Use this plugin for a workspace migrating from mTIME 5, where employees earned their five extra days every month. It keeps their balances what they were in mTIME 5, month by month.
For the Danish state agreement’s særlige feriedage, earned over the calendar year and granted on 1 May, use Danish Special Holidays instead. That plugin follows the ferievejledning; this one reproduces mTIME 5.
Put this plugin on its own policy and account, apart from ordinary vacation. The days then show as a balance of their own and lapse on their own date.
Parameters
| Parameter | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Days per year | The annual entitlement. | 5 |
| August | How the last month of the vacation year is settled: Reduced or Unchanged. See below. | Reduced |
How it works
The vacation year runs from September to August. For every month an employee is employed, the plugin books 1/12 of the entitlement, rounded to the nearest hundredth of a day. At 5 days that is 0.42 a month.
- Each month’s days are booked on the last day of the month, so they show on that month’s statement.
- Employees can use them from the 1st of the following month.
- They lapse on 31 December after the vacation year ends: days earned from September 2025 to August 2026 lapse on 31 December 2026.
- Part-time makes no difference: a half-time employee earns the same days as a full-time one.
- A month the employee is employed for only part of earns its share by the days employed.
August: reduced or unchanged
Twelve months at 0.42 come to 5.04, slightly more than the entitlement. mTIME 5 had two procedures for these days, and they handle the extra 0.04 differently. Choose the one the customer had in mTIME 5:
| August | mTIME 5 procedure | September–July | August | Vacation year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Reduced | AUTO_SaerligFridag_Tilskrivning | 0.42 | 0.38 | 5.00 |
| Unchanged | AUTO_Feriefridage_Tilskrivning_042 | 0.42 | 0.42 | 5.04 |
With Reduced, August only comes down when the year would otherwise pass the entitlement. An employee who joined part-way through the vacation year keeps 0.42 in August.
Examples
A workspace migrating from mTIME 5
- Create a time account of type Time off for the extra days, measured in days
- Add a time off policy pointing at that account
- Select the Danish Special Holidays (Monthly) accrual plugin
- Leave Days Per Year
at
5 - Set August to match the customer’s mTIME 5 procedure: Reduced for AUTO_SaerligFridag_Tilskrivning, Unchanged for AUTO_Feriefridage_Tilskrivning_042
An employee employed all year earns 0.42 every month from September to July, then 0.38 (Reduced) or 0.42 (Unchanged) in August.
Policies that used Danish Vacation’s mTIME 5 setting
Danish Vacation used to have an mTIME 5 compatibility setting for these days. Policies that had it turned on were moved to this plugin with August set to Reduced, which is what that setting calculated. If the customer was on AUTO_Feriefridage_Tilskrivning_042 in mTIME 5, change it to Unchanged at the start of the next vacation year.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| August is 0.04 lower than in mTIME 5 | The customer was on AUTO_Feriefridage_Tilskrivning_042. Set August to Unchanged. |
| The year ends on 5.04 instead of 5.00 | Expected with Unchanged. Set August to Reduced if the customer was on AUTO_SaerligFridag_Tilskrivning. |
| A part-time employee earned the same as a full-time one | Expected. The days do not depend on working hours. |
| An employee who joined mid-year got 0.42 in August with Reduced | Expected. August is only reduced when the year would otherwise pass the entitlement. |
| Days lapsed on 31 December | Expected: the days earned in a vacation year lapse on 31 December after it ends. |
| Ordinary vacation and these days lapse together | They are on the same policy. Put them on separate policies and accounts. |
