Balance Cap
The Balance Cap forfeits any balance above a fixed ceiling at every settlement. Use it to stop a flex balance growing without bound.
When to use
- A flat “you may carry at most N hours” rule that is the same for everyone.
- Alongside the crediting steps, as the final guard that trims the balance each period.
For a ceiling that tracks each employee’s norm, use the Weekly-norm cap instead; for a ceiling enforced only at quarter/year cut-offs, use the Periodic Cap.
Parameters
| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Maximum Balance | Upper ceiling on the balance, in minutes (for example 1200 = 20h). Any balance above this is forfeited at each settlement. Leave 0 for no cap. |
How it works
Carry-forward of the period’s credited amount happens first; this step then inspects the resulting balance and forfeits anything above the ceiling.
