What happens when you delete a workspace

When you delete a workspace:

  1. The workspace becomes inaccessible immediately
  2. All users lose access to the workspace
  3. The data is kept for 30 days in case it needs to be restored
  4. After 30 days, the workspace enters a queue for permanent deletion
  5. Full removal happens within 60 days of deletion
Deletion cannot be undone after the 30-day retention period. Make sure you have exported any data you need before deleting.
See our Data Deletion Policy for complete details on data retention and deletion timelines.

Before you delete

Consider these steps before deleting a workspace:

Who can delete a workspace

Only users with the workspace:delete permission can delete a workspace. This is typically limited to workspace administrators.

Frequently asked questions

How long until a deleted workspace is fully removed?

When you delete a workspace, the data goes through two phases:

  1. Retention period (30 days): The workspace is inaccessible but the data is preserved. Restoration is possible during this time.

  2. Permanent deletion (within 60 days): After the retention period, the workspace enters a deletion queue. Full removal of all data happens within 60 days of the original deletion date.

This process ensures time to recover from accidental deletions while also guaranteeing that data is eventually fully removed from the system. For complete details, see our Data Deletion Policy.

Can I restore a deleted workspace?

Yes, but only during the 30-day retention period. After 30 days, the data begins permanent deletion and cannot be recovered.
