Notifications
Stay informed about approvals, updates, and actions that need your attention.
Overview
Notifications keep you informed of events that relate to you — such as a time off request to approve, a timesheet submission, or a status change on something you submitted.
You can access notifications in two ways:
- Bell icon in the top bar — a quick popover for immediate triage
- Notifications page — a full list for reviewing and managing all notifications
Bell popover
Click the bell icon in the top bar to open the notification popover. The badge count shows how many unread notifications and pending actions you have.
The popover groups notifications into:
- Pending actions — items that need your response (approve, review, etc.)
- Unread messages — informational notifications you haven’t read yet
From the popover, you can:
- Open details — click a notification to see the full message and available actions
- Dismiss — remove a notification you’ve read
- Quick approve — for time off approval requests, approve directly from the notification without leaving the page
Notifications page
For a fuller view, navigate to by clicking View all in the popover or from the sidebar.
The page has two tabs:
| Tab | Shows |
|---|---|
| Unread | Notifications you haven’t read or dismissed |
| All | Complete notification history |
Actions available on the page:
- Mark as read — mark individual notifications as read
- Dismiss — remove a notification from the list
- View details — open the full notification dialog with context and actions
- Quick approve — approve time off requests directly from the notification

Decide today
A time off request that nobody has decided on by the employee’s last working day before it starts is time-sensitive: from the next day the employee is either away or at work, and there is no decision left to make. On that day both the approver and the employee get a “decide today” notification.
It is the employee’s own last working day, not simply the day before — so time off starting on a Monday warns on the preceding Friday, and on the Thursday if the employee already has that Friday off. It is sent once per request, and it disappears from both people’s notifications as soon as the request is approved or declined.
Email notifications
Notifications are also sent by email in the language set in the recipient’s preferences. Email notifications generally follow the same rules as in-app notifications.
The exception is a notification that reaches you as a copy of someone else’s email — the “decide today” warning is addressed to the approver with the employee in copy, so the employee gets one email rather than two.
